Massages are known to boost the immune function, lower blood pressure, lower heartrate, and even improve asthma symptoms for some users. The benefits are numerous!
Paying for a masseuse to work out those kinks and knots, however, can get expensive, which is why you may consider investing in a massage chair.
We were curious to know which brands offer the best massage experience, and since there are such wide price gaps between models, it was important for us to understand what the competition offers before selecting one.
Join us as we take an in-depth look at some of the best massage chair models currently on the market and find out what we learned after testing them.

How Do I Choose a Chair?
Budget is probably the biggest factor for many of you, which is why we suggest you start there. Once you have a price range in mind, you can compare different models within your price range to see which one will offer you the most for your money.
Once you have a few contenders in front of you, it is important to pay attention to a few other things before you choose one.
- Warranty. We checked out the warranty on all of the chairs to help make this part of the process a little easier for you.
It is important to understand what the warranty covers in case you encounter any problems. Does it only cover the parts/electronic parts? Does it only cover the frame and structure? Does it cover both? Is labor included?
Keep in mind that the warranty offered for a product when you purchase it directly from the manufacturer differs from the warranty offered by a third party seller, so it’s never safe to make assumptions. Always double check!
- Weight Limit. Make sure that you are aware of the chair’s weight limit before purchasing. If the user who will be using it exceeds the weight limit, then you risk damaging the chair’s electronic system, and repairs might not be covered by the warranty.
- Seat Width, Back Height. If you have a taller frame, then you want to make sure the back height is high enough for the massage components to reach all areas of your back.
If you have a wider frame, you want to make sure that the chair will comfortably fit you without making you feel squished.
- Material. Keep the material in mind, as well. Eco-leather is easier to care for but isn’t as durable as real leather. The latter, however, will render a chair much more expensive.
The Features Vary
Top massage chairs usually have the highest price tags. We’ve seen some models that go for as much as $6,000 or more!
While we didn’t include any of these on our list, there are some noticeable differences between the most expensive models and those that cost less.
- Full Body Massage. Numbers 1-6 on our list are designed to give you a full body massage from nearly every angle. There is a place for your forearms to be massaged, your calves, feet, shoulders, and back.
- L-track chairs are those with a track of massaging mechanisms that follow the curve of your spine and reach down into the seat of the chair to massage the buttocks and the thighs.
- S-track chairs, on the other hand, only follow the S-curve of your back and do not massage from the seat area.
There are heat settings, variable speeds, specific recline angles, air bag massage settings, and number 6 even had a special mode for seniors.
- Targeted Areas. The less expensive chairs aren’t as thorough, but if you can’t afford a more expensive one, they can still help you target your most problematic areas without draining your pockets.
Most will massage the back only, but the HomCom Heated Vibrating Massage Recliner allows you to choose areas from the back to the calves.
Top 5 Best Massage Chair Reviews
Kahuna is our pick for best massage chair, and we know that many others out there will agree. This chair is a FDA-approved medical device and offers a full line of features that are truly impressive.
If you’re not familiar with the terminology associated with these chairs, then you may be wondering what the Zero Gravity feature is referring to. It’s simple: this chair can recline to a position that allows it to spread your weight out evenly across the chair and relieve stress points on your entire body. You’ll feel weightless as a result, and since your feet are higher than your heart, the massage will be even more beneficial to you.
The Yoga Stretching program on this chair is quite impressive. It stretches the body and improves circulation, but you can always choose from one of the five manual massaging techniques if you’re not interested in this feature.
Considering the wide range of features you get for the price, this chair is tough to beat.
Just like the Kahuna, Relaxonchair’s model is also FDA-approved as a medical device
You get the three-stage Zero Gravity feature, three levels of control over the airbag intensity, three massage speeds, and five targeted massage techniques. It can knead, tap, perform a combination of the two, do a Shiatsu massage or do a rolling massage.
Many people don’t seem to be fans of the foot massage feature, claiming that it is too intense, and this is probably the case if you’re not used to having your feet massaged. If it is too intense for you, feel free to turn the foot massage off while the chair works out the kinks on the rest of your body.
You’ll notice that this chair has fewer features than the Kahuna, but it is also more affordable.
If you are looking for the best massage chair that balances price and quality, you’ll get your money’s worth out of this one.
If you jump up in the price range, you’ll find models like this one from Osaki.
You can choose from six different pre-set massage programs and navigate your way through the options with the LCD remote. It is large, so reading it won’t be a problem.
It also features the Zero Gravity positioning and has an auto timer that can work on your muscles for as little as five minutes and all the way up to 30 minutes depending on the level of knots you have in your muscles.
Based on the price, we were a bit disappointed by the limited 1-year warranty. However, it is a full warranty that covers parts and labor for one year from the purchase date.
If you would like to get a better idea of the features of this chair, we recommend that you check out Osaki’s video that provides you with a detailed overview.
Ideal Massage Forever’s chair is slightly more popular than the other ones we looked at because it is so budget friendly, which isn’t surprising since it features an S-track system.
It is easy to use and will provide you with an intense massage, which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your comfort level.
The auto programs are great, and it has three different Zero Gravity positions that will allow you to feel weightless as the chair works its magic.
The warranty is excellent, covering electronic parts and the structure for three years from the purchase date.
Prefer a chair that won’t cost you a few months’ worth of rent? Consider this one from Ideal Massage!
The most inexpensive chair in our top five is the S-track Favor-01 model from Real Relax.
It features four preset massage programs, the Zero Gravity feature, heaters and plenty of airbags that relieve tense muscles using compression.
While it does provide you with a thorough massage, the features just aren’t as high tech in this price range as they are with the more expensive chairs.
The massage points may roll, but they are not like true roller massager chair that run up and down your spine as you sit there.
If you’re shopping for something that will receive heavy, regular use such as a business or a gym, then consider investing in a model like this.
The warranty is excellent – 3 years – beating out the warranty of some of the other chairs on the list!
